As the days get longer, so does the list of ways you can get outside in Downtown Fort Wayne. From riverfront mornings to ballpark nights, DTFW’s spring calendar is stacked with activities for everyone.

Here’s your guide to making the most of spring in #DTFW:
Take Yourself Out to the Ball Game

Parkview Field is one of the best minor league ballparks in the country, and the Fort Wayne TinCaps are back for another season. There is nothing quite like a warm spring evening in the stands—cold drink in hand, children’s laughter in your ears, skyline surrounding you, and the crack of the bat in the background. Grab tickets, bring the whole crew, and settle in for one of DTFW’s most beloved warm-weather traditions.

Before or after the game, make a detour to visit some of the surrounding businesses known for their outdoor spaces, like Rudy’s Cigar Shop or the Sidecar. Rudy’s, known for their selection of cigars and regionally made craft beer and wine, harbors a fully heated beer garden and spacious patio that’s perfect for a pre-game ritual. The Sidecar, voted “Best Outdoor Dining” by the Fort Wayne Reader’s Choice Awards, is a true outdoor oasis, offering refreshing cocktails, casual bites, and some of the best service around. Their opening date for the season has yet to be released, so keep your eyes peeled!

Sip & Stroll with DORA

Spring is made for wandering the streets and sidewalks of Downtown, and DORA makes it even better. The Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area allows guests 21 and older to purchase beverages from participating locations and carry them outside (within the designated DORA boundaries).

With more than 20 participating locations, there are plenty of options to fill your cup before stepping out to explore. Look for the blue-and-white DORA signage throughout the district and remember to keep your beverage within the DORA boundaries.

Drink responsibly and enjoy Downtown the way it was meant to be enjoyed—outside.

Curate Your Own Ice Cream Crawl!

When the weather warms up, there’s nothing better than a cold treat. And luckily, DTFW has some of the city’s best ice cream parlors, all within walking distance to one another.

Choose your own adventure: Crescendo, Kilwins, Pufferbelly, Sweets on Main—or all four! While you’re enjoying your scoops, walk around and explore Downtown’s blooming landscapes and bright murals.

Vote for Your Favorite Window in Fort Wayne in Bloom

Every spring, Downtown Fort Wayne’s storefronts get a gorgeous makeover for the Fort Wayne in Bloom Window Decorating Contest. Local businesses and organizations deck their windows in all things botanical, and the public gets to vote for their favorite. This year’s theme is Garden Party, and the results are stunning.

Voting runs through Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10, and everyone who casts a vote is automatically entered to win a $50 Downtown Fort Wayne Gift Card. The People’s Choice Award winner takes home a $100 gift card. Participants this year include the Embassy Theatre, Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, Lucky Vintage, Sassie Cakes, and more. Winners will be announced on Monday, May 18.

It’s a great excuse to stroll the district, peek in windows, and support the businesses that make DTFW so special.
