Lunch on the Square Returns with a New Mission-Based Initiative, Lunch Means More, in Downtown Fort Wayne

By Preston Wallace | June 2, 2022

Fort Wayne’s favorite lunch and entertainment series, Lunch on the Square, returns to Downtown Fort Wayne for the 14th season! The 13-week series takes place every Thursday throughout June, July, and August, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Freimann Square.

Lunch on the Square hosts 13 food trucks each week, boasting a variety of flavorful bites alongside live musical performances from a rotating list of 13 local artists. And this year, your meal just got that much better with the implementation of a new program, Lunch Means More.

Lunch Means More, a mission-based initiative in partnership with Barnes & Thornburg LLP, expands the existing features of the event. The program was integrated to allow patrons and businesses the opportunity to give back to an organization that set out to make a difference in the local community.

Each Thursday, one of 12 food trucks will be the featured food provider of the week, where 15% of their sales that day will be matched and donated by Barnes & Thornburg LLP to a local nonprofit organization. Lunch Means More is the perfect combination of doing well (and eating well) by doing good.

Barnes & Thornburg LLP has selected the Growing Lives Foundation as the recipient of this year’s donations. On August 25, the final Thursday of the season, Barnes & Thornburg LLP and Downtown Fort Wayne will present a check to the organization for the total amount raised throughout the series.

The Growing Lives Foundation was co-founded by Carlos Brooks, a University of Saint Francis alumni and Fort Wayne native. The organization focuses on “empowering, educating, and uplifting students for a brighter future” by “[removing] societal barriers…to live a life otherwise unattainable.” Barnes & Thornburg LLP and Downtown Fort Wayne are pleased to partner on this program and look forward to bettering our community through shared efforts.
