Downtown Fort Wayne Housing Guide

As little as fifteen years ago, there weren’t many living options in or near Downtown. Your choices were limited to the West Central neighborhood, a handful of apartment buildings, and a few condos here and there. Fast forward to 2023, and you’ll find more Downtown housing options than you’ll know what to do with.

Even with the abundance of more recent housing, you’ll notice that many complexes are at capacity—a sign that demand to live in Downtown Fort Wayne is growing. And that’s no surprise! With a thriving food scene, state-of-the-art parks, and new developments continuing to pop up within walking distance, Downtown offers ideal dwelling for anyone looking for an energetic space to call home.

Looking to live in the heart of Fort Wayne, but not sure where to start? Here’s a guide to help you sift through your options:

As you can probably guess from the name, this almost-sixty-year-old classic overlooks all three of Fort Wayne’s iconic rivers—views of great blue herons and bald eagles on one side, cityscape on the other. There’s a pool, indoor community space with fireplace, a parking garage, and it’s right on the River Greenway and across from The Deck, The Gas House, and Takaoka of Japan.

It has everything you’d hope for from a historic preservation project: exposed brick and big windows, that sense of history you only feel in old buildings, and an incredible location—it’s a three-minute walk to Promenade Park or The Landing, and that’s if you stop to pet your neighbor’s dog.
