Artist Call For Mural at The Riverfront at Promenade Park

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Art This Way and Downtown Fort Wayne are seeking qualified artists to apply for a new mural project at The Riverfront at Promenade Park. The project will cover the cinder block walls of the parking garage, which faces South Calhoun Street. Portions of the project will also be located along the pedestrian entrance to the parking garage.

This is a nationwide RFQ. Artists 18 or older are encouraged to submit an RFQ application through the Art This Way Artist Call to Action online portal. Through this process, several artists will be selected to develop and submit concepts for the parking garage mural. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2025.

“Public art plays a vital role in shaping Downtown Fort Wayne’s identity and showcasing the creativity that makes the area unique,” said Downtown Fort Wayne Director of Marketing Preston Wallace. “Projects like the mural at The Riverfront at Promenade Park enhance our city, and as we work toward reauthorizing our organization for another 10 years, we remain committed to supporting initiatives that make Downtown an exciting, welcoming destination for all.”

Funding for this project was designated through the Public Art Giveback Program, a funding instrument for the City of Fort Wayne’s Public Art Program. Contributions come from specific City of Fort Wayne-supported redevelopment projects outlined in § 33.188 of the City Code of Ordinances. As part of The Riverfront at Promenade Park development, project management is required to allocate funds toward public art. All projects funded through this mechanism are subject to review and approval by the City of Fort Wayne’s Public Art Commission.

This mural is powered by Barrett Realty Investments.
